Destructive testing of a vacuum brazed turning tool
The video shows the destructive testing of a vacuum brazed carbide PCD joint.
Although the force is primarily introduced as a tensile load, the tool carrier twists. In the result it comes to a so-called peel stress.
The brazing paste used was a true alloy braze from Lucas Milhaupt.
The temperature curve used is a further development of the process developed by Zigerlig Tec.
The further development and adaptation to the vacuum furnace was carried out by WigTec.
The tested turning tool is a standard tool with a PCD cutting edge.

Shear tests of active brazed MCD on steel and carbide samples
The video shows the destructive testing of vacuum brazed MCD/steel and MCD/carbide joints.
Tools with monocrystalline Diamonds (MCD) are used for the high-gloss polishing of metal surfaces, in the (dental) medicine and the measuring technology.
